“Winter is here, and by far my favorite style season of the year. You can layer, mix and match and make your style more dramatic. It doesn’t mean throwing on a bulky sweater and hibernating till spring. Even in Texas weather, you can set aside your sandals and pastels and make room for boots and the rich berry colors that are taking over the runway this season. Here are some tips to help you know what’s HOT and what’s NOT.”

HOT: BOWS they are making a comeback in a big way this season, they are popping up on sweaters, dresses, heels, boots, jewelry, purses, and accessories, if there is a bow whether its big or small incorporated into your outfit you cannot go wrong. It is easy enough even for those who are fashionably challenged. Bows are dressing up the most casual items with a very girly feminine touch.

NOT: First off get rid of wrap dresses with large patterns,
dresses are perfectly fine for winter, but in rich colors or even soft florals. And those tops with waistbands right under the bust line, and babydoll tops are no longer in, neither were flattering and am glad to see them both go.

HOT: Purple and grey, winter does not always mean
retrieve to an all black wardrobe, deep purples and grey are a must this season, the key trends now are rich deep colors, mixed patterns and textures with metallic details of silver and gold incorporated. The little girl feel is out and styles to dominate have a more grown up combination. Don’t be afraid to not only layer your clothes but load up on accessories, big bold jewelry mixed together is hotter than ever.

HOT: ROCK AND ROLL!!! Trying a more edgy style is ok
if you accessorize the right way, start out by simply adding discrete details to add the rocker edge people are craving right now. Metal accessories are an easy way to start, layer chunky necklaces or lots of metal bracelets, edgy t-shirts , leather jackets, studded belts and wear your skinny jeans tucked into boots with buckles on them. Doing any of these things will give you the edge you are looking for!

HOT: HAIR AND MAKEUP! For hair it’s all about bounce,
texture and a little height this season, waves, subtle curls and volume make hair more appealing to the eye and touch. It’s all about the natural look from your hair to your makeup, everyone knows natural makeup makes a girl look better, so go back to pinks and corals, if you want to spice it up add some eye shadow with green or gold tones and you will have a fool proof winter glow.

NOT: HAIR AND MAKEUP! Put down the straightener and
let your hair get the much needed rest it deserves, ironed flat hair is out, if you must go straight opt for a blow dry with a soft bristle brush. Throw away your bottle of self tanner, and focus on highlighting your cheekbones with a coral peach rather than having a bronze face in the middle of winter.
